How many beer types do you buy?

Posted 21 March 2008 - 06:08 AM

At the local Walmart where I work overnight, I noticed a lady in line.
I noticed she had like five different kinds of beer. She said, "I noticed you were looking, putting on my best Walmart face, and as innocently as I could I said, "Excuse me ma'am?

She smiled, and started pointing and said "This all purpose beer is just for drinking. This one goes with steak better. I drink this beer with nachos, and for guests. This one goes best with seafood, and this beer I use to cook with."...

I thought beer was beer... you picked your poison and that was pretty much it... but I don't drink, so...

My father used to drink Pabst Blue Ribbon, Schlitz, Coors or Miller Lite every once in a blue moon.... but he never bought more than one kind at a time, and he'd drink it with everything for a few months, then switch to something else. I never saw more than one type of beer at a time in the house....

Do you use certain beers for certain meals? or certain occassions?

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

My beer of choice is Budweiser bottles. But the ultimate isn't beer - it's Dr. Pepper and Vanilla Rum.

Bud or Bud Light,
Corona on Weekends.
Labatt Blue or Molson Canadian when I am feeling a little frisky.

*** If constipated, I will drink Milwaukees Best or Natty Light or Busch.
Instant cure next morning!

I usually keep 3 or 4 on hand...one or two Canadian brands, and usually one American and some Belgian beers, sometimes Scottish as well.

I keep Hungarian (1 or 2 kinds) and something else ( Belgian, Czech, German, maybe English). But I usually buy one kind at a time.

Wow.... Really?

And are all these different type for different meals or occassions, or it just depends on what your in the mood for that particular day, or... ??
Not to sound stupid (I know, too late)... but I'm just curious why so many different types.....

What are the major differences in the beers? Color, and taste obviously...

I should have named this topic "Beer school"

Yeah, mostly taste, so they would go with different meals.
Some are for different moods, and some are for the extra high alcohol content :)
Well, finally some are for friends, because those mofos are getting pickier lately...

Well, if they are that picky, you should have them try that one brand...
"WUSIWUG", from what I hear, it's pretty good...

On days that I am broke.... Natty Lights. When I have some cash...Miller Light. When Income tax time, my birthday, or Christmas arrive...Heineken. When I visit family members in Mexico....Tecate or Carta Blanca

Good ol' Pennsylvania has blue laws.... if it's not a state store, you get no booze. And if it's a Sunday, you're screwed.

The ole sunshine state doesn't do that. You can buy beer here until like 2am, and Saturday until 5:00 Am... Sunday It's banned until noon I think.
Whatever... if you drink, "I didn't get to the store in time" is not a valid excuse.... People say they party in Orleans... They need to come to Florida... 80 year old hags walking .... make that staggering down the road, trying to wave to the cops... the cops don't care...
