I think I need a helmet

Posted 02 April 2008 - 07:43 AM

I am back. And I am venting again.

My hubby is up for a transfer from his current barracks to a barracks closer to our families. Which is great. Except last night, he informed me if he gets the transfer, he'll be moving in with his parents and paying them rent - to help my evil, psycho mother-in-law and her lazy-assed husband pay their bills since he lost his job in December and hasn't bothered looking for another one.

Which means I either have to support myself and the kids on one income or move back to my mother's - I am too damned old to live with my mother and I'm not certain I can keep steady freelance work coming in enough to support myself and 2 kids.

And it's all because his mother can't stand the idea of his money going to someone else... I hate that woman. She IS Satan. I'm convinced of it.

To top it all off, the mail lady came to the door today to hand me a certified letter from my daughter's school. It seems I have violated some sort of policy by pulling her out of school early one Friday to begin the trek back to my parent's place for our off-weekend Easter dinner. Because the trip was "religious in nature" I am required to have a special form signed and approved by the uber-1337 principle - ruler of First Graders. As such, the day has been deemed an unexcused absence. The letter stated that since this was my "first offense", it would be a mere warning. Any future infractions will result in legal action.

Is she going to flunk out of First Grade and end up living her life hooked on crack and starring in porn because she missed ONE day of school?

People are so freaking stupid. And the school principle is their king. The hubby must be a duke or lord.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to find a concrete wall to smack my head against.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I would have to agree with Axel. I/We homeschool our son because we got tired of the shit in the school system, and I think he's better of, educationally, for this decision. I think the school system today has way to much power and needs to mellow the f*ck out a bit. Just my 2 :)

I knew this girl named Traci and she missed a day of school once. Fortunately her talents were discovered at a young age and by 15 she had a starring role in her first movie "What Gets Me Hot (1984)" she showed that first grade principle.

Here I believe you were looking for one of these:

heh... speaking of mellowing out - the same school, last year, added a permanent write-up to my daughter's file for swearing in class. She said "damn".... one time.....while in Kindergarten.... it's on her permanent record. My hubby is a state cop. They should just count themselves lucky that's the ONLY word she used.

Nice, Nykc.... way to put my worst fears to rest :P

Glad I could help. It sounds like your schools faculty is on a power trip. I too would consider other options as now your daughter will probably be ridiculed by them for a while. I pull my children out early all the time when I go on vacations - They can just deal with it my world don't revolve around principle skinner.

But the terrible public school gives the students a common enemy, uniting them together in the face of the enemy-! Yesh!

One of the smartest guys I know homeschools his kids, and a lot of other intelligent people do the same. Probably beats public.

I think it is different for different people. I homeschool but my brother goes to public. He got a full ride to college, and there a lot of people that homeschool that get the same. I know that is not really anything to go by, but it was just an example.

I like homeschooling. I can get done early and go freebord or work on my site :)

you can walk around naked after lunch without fear of being cut off from your peers. that alone is worth it.

Wow, that's messed up. In my senior year I had my mother write me a note to get me out of school for the entire day! The note was generic too, like I had to clean my grandmothers yard before she returned from Florida. My friends & I went to cedar point.

I had perfect attendance in the 1st grade & I... well nevermind. I'm too high on crack to talk about it now.
