Updated IP address on PC using Windows command prompt.

This sounds.. odd. It basically indicates you were able to type in a series of keystrokes, and should be dropped.

I know it sounds odd but that was the Army system in Germany at the time.
Not much I could do about that.

Okay guys and gals, I've been looking through a number of these resumes and I am seeing some basic errors.

First. You do not need an "Objective" statement. As a hiring manager I don't care that YOU are looking for a challenging position as a software developer. Give me a summery statement that will tell me what YOU WILL BRING to the table. Summarize what experience you have, how many years. I am only going to spend 15-20 seconds on your resume unless something catches my eye.

Here's mine (I am planning on editing it down too)

Quote

Multi-discipline Technical Trainer and Systems Operations & Maintenance Professional with over 20 years professional experience, including; Instructional System Development (ISD), classroom instruction and presentation. 10+ years; proposal development, technical writing/editing, integrated schedule/earned value program tracking, including 5+ years in a Joint Service Department of Defense (DoD) environment.

12+ years’ hands-on IT life-cycle experience, including: program and budgeting process, network engineering and best practices, customer support including Flag Officer support through 4 star rank. Subject Matter Expert in information systems technology, software and business training, project management and engineering planning, systems analysis and troubleshooting, quality control, forecasting, scheduling and tracking of results.

Flexible and versatile, demonstrable love for learning, self-driven, with the desire to operate not as an individual but as a collaborative team member pushing others and myself to excel. Able to maintain a sense of humor under pressure.

Next. You do NOT need "Reference Avaiable Upon Request". You just wasted 2 lines that could have listed more of your skills. All I can say is duhhhh, if I ask you for references you WILL give them to me.

Hmmmm... what else... oh yeah.. When you list your job experiences, just list the company name, location, dates of employment and your job title. You follow up with the description of YOUR work/ accomplishments. DO NOT write about what the company does.... I am NOT hiring the company you worked for, I want to know what you did to bring value add to the table.

This is a start, I have a few more I will post later on. I will reupload my resume in a bit as well.

Okay, here is my sterlized resume. I need to keep out some PII.

I actually have 3 resumes. One for training (attached), one for Project management, and one for my IT support. I just place emphasis on each skill domain a little differently in each version.

This type of resume is more for those who have years of job experiences vs those out of college and really have a CV. Do note how I add in key words and acronyms. I also define those acronyms too. Note the programming languages, software packages etc.. this helps for exptraction tools that look for key words.

My resume puts more emphasis on acomplishments, vs education and listing all the jobs I have held. Not that I have minimized some of my older jobs as they are not applicable in totality to what I would be applying for today.

You left your name on the top of the second page. How did you get the box around your page?

Yeah I noticed after my name on the 2nd page... That's what happens when you forget to edit all the headers! No major biggie....

I did insert shape in the header to create the box. I created 3 lines, then grouped them to create the bottom and sides, then did two more lines for the top leaving the space for my name.

This is mine. Any Careers people i've shown it to tend to hate it, but it's been pretty successful for me in the ratio of applications:interviews.

Mine tops the most boring resumes, i have 3 months work experience from retail, (a month from target retail store which i don't even list anymore since it was so short and it 2008.) I am currently in my last semester of sophomore year in college. I just realized that i must learn some things on my own to have a shot on landing any type of internship next summer. I plan on learning more Direct X game development and C# after so i can apply for my dream internship(Blizzard software developer!)This is my first shot at creating a resume also so any critiques and pointers will be much appreciated. Thanks!

How's this (draft) resume for an undergrad with no work experience looking for an internship? :gun_bandana:

Note: this is more of an "end of the summer goal resume". I haven't done much Fortran yet nor have I completed 30+ Project Euler problems in x86 (I've done 22, getting there!).

Spoiler

I personally wouldn't use the negative sounding part:

Quote

Very low tendency to abandon unfinished projects

I'd make it more positive some how...but upon trying to rephrase it I realized that I'm not sure what you're trying to get at here.
