I've been told - and quite often - that employers will not care about your High school, however I think some of the awards would be nice to include under the awards part (The National Honor Society thingy) but the GPA and other stuff is unnecessary. But of course - I don't know what an Advanced HS Diploma is - so it could be relevant for all I know :)

Also, just a little design aside, I would like to see your phone and email end on the same line as your name... I think it would look more symmetrical. And have you looked at it with the formatting visible? Its the little paragraph tag it displays all the spaces, line breaks, tabs, etc.. If it looks good in this (as in not to cluttered) then it is a well formatted word document.

I took at look at yours like this KYA and it looked pretty good, although you shouldn't use more than one tab and spaces to line things up (it is easier and more consistent if you use the little ruler at the top to set tab stops)... Just FYI

Some employers might not even look at this - but the ones that do will want to see that you know how to use a basic office program like Word, especially for a computer job don't you think?

Thanks for the feedback. If I'm handing in a paper copy then the formatting thing seems to be a moot point. I looked at the formatting and I don't see what you're seeing. I could just be Word ignorant though. Good thing I'm not applying for a graphic design gig. ;)

Well.
Since part of the reason I'm here is to improve my chances of finding a job.

I may as well put a resume up. . .

@MrWobbles
Very nice design. Simple, straight-forward, and just looks great.

@Geek@Large
I've never seen a layout quite like that. Then again, I've only seen student resumes prior to now. But are those icons really necessary if you have them listed under Accomplishments?

Well, here's mine. Feel free to rip it apart. I need the criticism. People are here are too damn nice.

We've talked about resume formats in the past, but after being asked to reformat my resume by the new company I work for, I want to see everyone elses resume.

Here's my new resume:

Share yours, maybe someone here will see it and hire you, but either way you'll get to see others resumes and maybe improve your own.

Maybe this thread should be added to one of the freelancing forums as well?

Here's my resume in my usual format, as well as the new diligent specific format that chris and i were just forced into doing.

I think soon I will probably create a nice middle ground between the two.

@ SuperSloth You're in my neck of the woods. :^: I'm up in Los Alamos :D

It's interesting to see how people setup their resumes. I've been long debating going to a two page layout, but so far I've managed to just keep rearranging it until it fits into a page. Anyway, here 'tis:

I think your layout looks really cool. The simple embellishment of the coloured column is understated enough to be acceptable in business, but practical enough to make it easier to read.

Plus, it's nice to see someone post something in an appropriate format rather than a Word document :)

Sure: it sucks.

Actually, it doesn't. It looks a lot like mine. I would lose the custom bullet points though, I think they look a little bit like you're trying too hard.

Here's mine, nothing compared to some of you guys here. However, my CV seem to impress the recruitmentment agency, well in SA anyway, but never do get the job. That sucks.
