Second Life

Posted 04 April 2008 - 03:28 PM

I recently read a little article on CNN talking about a CNN field trip that was done awhile ago. They mentioned a place call Clock island, a nice corn field, and a place where someone recreated a huge statue of liberty.

So it got me wondering, where in second life is your favorite hang out? What is interest there? What are the coordinates?

Please do not spam this with your own sites. Just sites you have been to and please list what of interest is located there.

Thanks!

:)

I'm currently in the SL development team at my university so I would have to say my favourite place is my university land where I'm surrounded by things I've scripted.

Other than that I would say the College of Scripting and Music, its an invaluable resource for anyone who works with LSL and the group itself is very friendly and when your not giving help to someone in the group theres usually someone there that can give you a hand.

I don't run SL on this machine so I can't fire it up and get the co-ords but if you SEARCH>>PLACES>> College of Scripting and Music you should get it

I don't know with 166 posts just 5 days in the month, you seem to be liking the virtual world more than your 1st life. ;)

I havn't been able to log on for a while as school is royally kicking my ass, HOWEVER when I do get to log on I like to check in at DeVry GSP Island....nothing special there, but I do go to DeVry so its fun when I meet deans and stuff.

I also really like The Weather Channel Island. Virtual observatories, skiing, surfing, dirtbiking, and more. Plus loads of information videos and pictures that detail the immense changes in weather on earth.

hmmm random thought....Weather is like code! Or vice versa...

Anyways, I also like any music venues playing live stuff.

Do you have the coords for the weather channel island? We will have to have some kind of DIC meetup in there one of these days. Get the DIC staff on there and maybe even construct a DIC headquarters building on there where we could hang out and answer questions.

:D

People that don't know about the site might be wary of heading to the DIC headquarters on DIC island

Umm...not off the top of my head, but I'll get you the slurl when I have time. And I think that second part is a great idea. The only reason I don't play much is because I have no VirtualFriends.....which sadly mimics my first life.

You know, programmers totally rule in worlds like second life. Sometimes I think second life is like the total opposite of your real life. I find that people who are nerdy, and can program are considered sometimes to be outcasts, but on second life those same characteristics make them gods.

Ahah, it's so true! Who cares if you can't make a hoverboard in real life, just log into SL, throw some code together, BAM instant money and friends. Well not really but I know what you mean.

I'd be more interested in Second Life if it were more responsive. I took a click and BAM! I embarked on a quest to walk 2 meters, taking 5 seconds to begin walking. Uberto Lagio.
