is anybody familiar with rebirth? i'm thinking about getting into it, it looks pretty cool, not as many features as fruityloops but a lot simpler. all you really need for creating loops for sites and junk. any comments on it?

What can I say, ReBirth rules. It might be easier to create simple tunes and licks with ReBirth, but when you get more advanced, it might become a little more tedious... I'm comparing this to FruityLoops of course. Frankly, I find all the little knobs and dials annoying, and I think it could've been layed out a little better, but I guess they're really going for emulating the synths and 808 and 909 machines. Make sure you listen to "A Taste of Haste" - for inspiration.

I've never liked those 808 and 909 sounds...You should try Acid and Reason. I know you'll see how much better life can be. Don't get me wrong ReBirth is cool, I could just never get into it- there's better nowaday.

A matter of taste and style I guess. It'd be hard to emulate that effect though in Acid, considering you work with samples, and you can only edit a sample so much. I like both though.
