Man Declares Hammer Time On His Gateway Machine

Posted 09 April 2002 - 08:23 AM

Some of you may have caught this last week, but I ran across it again while clearing out some bookmarks.

Gary Wilke of Wisconsin was charged with disorderly conduct after he beat his Gateway PC to bits with a sledgehammer. Apparently he bought the machine in January for his daughter for Ū,600.00. Since then he has had nothing but problems, and had to take it to his local Gateway Country Store 5 times, the fifth be the last. On his final trip he took the machine in to the store and proceded to beat the living crap out of it , to the shock of the store employees, with a hammer. He was fed up with poor support and lack luster service. I say score one for the little guy.

I was extremely close to doing that about a year ago when i got my fuxx0red gateway for 񙇈+ I couldnt get the gateway store to help me fix it, and they wouldnt take it back, since i had spent over 30 days on the phone w/ the fuckin tech support trying to get the thing to run.

So i packed it ALL in ONE box (no styrofoam, i threw that away earlier, unknowing that i was going to be returning it)

Cut in line at the gateway store, dropped it on the counter and said, "FIX IT"

They just handed me a check for 񙎼 some bucks instead, after some 2-3 hours of me and my dad standing in the front of the line, not letting people thru. They wanted us outta there.

So i bought a dell, better quality, 躔 cheaper, and has never crashed ONCE.

I also went around to ALL of the display computers at the sto and set all the desktop images to say: "Gateway has the worst customer service ever!" And a short version of my story. I say at least 5 people go up to try a computer, stop, stare, frown, and walk out of the store

If you want I'll help you design a system 100x better than that thats not too pricy. (and we can build a titeass case fo it)

But are you too afraid to take $ from your car savings for a comp? (if you have a monitor already the comp itself will cost <轜, possibly lower.)

IM me bout it. I love buildin computers.

If it was an apple, I'd grab the hammer and let the guy have it right back.
