Like the title says.

The one thing I hate most about my job is the endless process of documenting and meeting. For example I just got assigned a project to literally remove 1 line of code from about 40 files.

How hard is that?

Well let's do it properly. In order to delete 1 line of obsolete code from several files requires all of this in order for it to happen.

Tech Design Document
Unit Test Plan
Unit Testing

Status email everyday at end of day to make sure I am on same page with project mgmt.

So there you have it. I hate documentation, sox compliance and endless meetings of pointless discussion.

The one thing that I hate doing at work is also the documentation side of things. For me to write a simple SQL query either at the DB2 site, or using Access, I have to write out the requirements as given to me by the requestor, verify requirements w/ requestor (most requestors are not tech people and screw up what they need), draw flow chart, submit flow chart, wait for feedback, write the query (takes about 5 minutes unless the information is extremely buried, and I have to research the tables to use), submit preliminary data to requestor, and finally once approved, add to list of tasks to be performed each morning if needed. Not to mention that I have to analyze all the data once I get it, and sent it up nice and pretty in an Excel spreadsheet or rtf file for the requestor.

Data Entry. When I'm freelancing and a client asks me to do their data entry, unless we previously discussed it I'll crank my rates about 4x.

Meeting with clients when my boss is there. It just never as easy as when he's not... though when I'm not there some of the things he promises can be worse.

And Training I hate training users.

Mine is having to explain something to my boss that most normal people would see as logical in once sentence. yeah he is a bit slow.

Well since I absolutely hate my job and everything associated with it, I'm going to try to do the opposite of this topic and pick one thing I like to do.

Working with the most negative person Ive ever met. This is my first real job out school too and I had the priviledge of working exclusivley with this woman for 3 months straight. If I hear one more sigh of frustration I think I may snap. Very melodramatic.

I'd write documentation for 30 hours before willingly spending 30 minutes on this horrible report tool.

Crystal ain't all that bad....if you are a genius! I only use the GUI for that tool, but prefer Access.
