Papa John's .23 cent pizzas

Posted 08 May 2008 - 10:01 AM

Here is the grand state of Ohio, Papa John's is offering $0.23 (large one topping) pizzas for carryout to anyone that orders one today. I am stuck in school right now, but I am sure that the line is out the door. Some kids that I know skipped today to go buy a pizza that they called in at 10AM and they just got it now at 12:30...

Apparently, for anyone that doesn't know what is going on is, the Papa John's franchise has to apologize for the actions of a store that printed tee-shirts with LeBron James' number with 'crybaby' written over the number but under the Papa John's logo. A store in Washington DC printed the shirts as part of a promotional effort to boost sales from Washington fans before the game, but it was not approved nationally by the chain. Some fans wore them to the game and an online blogger/ Wizards fan named Jon Eick from a popular food blogging site named 'sogoodblog.com' spread the word around.

Papa John's cooperate office issued an official apology to the team and to LaBron James and is currently selling pizzas for $0.23 and donating the proceeds along with 10K to the Cavaliers charity.

More to come.

I think it's everywhere, there was some guy on Twitter freaking out about it too.

I don't have a Papa John's within 100 miles (I think the nearest is Blaine?) so I won't be enjoying pizza for .23 cents.

This is stupid. LeBron can get over it.

I'm tired of seeing everyone apologize in the news. Have some balls ffs.

actually to my knowledge lebron james never said anything about the shirts, but the residents of cleveland began to get pissed off, and that's not good for business.

basically, the company didn't want their d.c. stores fucking over their cleveland stores.

I feel that if you won't stand by what you say or do then you should not have said or done that thing in the first place.

This is how I understood this too. I mean, if Lebron didn't bitch about getting his teeth kicked in during the games, then why would he complain over a shirt?

Besides...

a.) Papa Johns is crap.
b.) The lines are backed up with a 2 to 3 hour wait
c.) The pizza will likely not be fully cooked, as they are trying to push out as many as possible.

Give me a Red Barron any day...

i have no doubt that's how papa johns as nation wide company would feel if they had said it, however it wasn't them who authorized it, it was the d.c. regional section, without approval from the higher ups, thus the rest of the chain atoning for the d.c. area's actions
