fireworks, illustrator, i think freehand might be vector based as well

Illustrator, Swift3D.

I don't use freehand anymore cause the export to swf in Illustrator 10 is FABULOUS!

i just got illustrator 10, and even though its the adobe iface, its kinda weird. heh. any tips on how to get started using it? ive never used vector based programs before but id like to learn?

as teft replies to a two week old topic :D

Basically... it means you move objects on a 2d plane in the x and y directions. for instance you start at one location, 10 frames later you arrive at destination (x,y). That's the general basis of it...

lol, no that is not what it means....that is what flash does :)

vector graphics, are graphics which are plotted mathmatically, allowing them to be scaled to any size without loosing quality. this is the reason that Flash gets slow when you try to do too many things at once, because every frame, it is recalculating where each of those points are...

In contrast, a Bitmap image (like from photoshop) desicribes the image like this:

Green, Red, Red, Red, Red, Blue, Blue, Blue, etc. . .
pixel by pixel.


Where a vector file would be: Draw a square 11 inches across, starting at 4in y and 5in x. So you can then change the 11 inches across, and it's still a square.
