It's supposed to be 2-3 pages.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, the teacher is too much of a non-techy to appreciate that sort of thing. Believe me, if she wasn't so seperated from technology, I'd already be writing about that. It's not that she doesn't know anything about computers, it's that she expects them to read her mind. Or something.
She was telling everyone how she wanted to print some sheet out, but the computer said "bad something corrupt blah blah blah" (that's a quote). I told her that the floppy disk probably went bad, and she said "They can't go bad!"
Oh well. Other ideas?

How to save information on a 'foppy' disk
start it off somthing like this:
Well, to tell you the truth, it isnt really 'floppy'. It's actually quite solid.....
heh

It's a how-to.
They're called "floppy" because the internal surface that data is written on is, in fact, floppy. Take one apart sometime. Hard discs have hard ... well, discs inside.

i always thought that they were called floppys because their older bro, the 51/2 was actually floppy.... and it came out as like the "new floppy"... so... maybe it stuck.
but i'm SURE you're right.

I could email you a total fuxing morons guide to configuring Email with screen shots. it is like 10 pages long with a screen shot for everything
click start "shot of mouse on start"
click of settings "shot of mouse on settings '
click control panel " shot of mouse on control panel"
The sad thing is that I had to write it for our end users and they still have problems with setting up email

She's computer illiterate? GOOD! All the more reason to write something on computers in your how-to.
The reader shouldn't have to know anything before reading a howto. I mean, isn't that the purpose of the howto in the first place?
Who knows, maybe she'll even learn something.

She is waaaaaaaay critical of (even the smallest) holes. E.g. she'd be inclined to nitpick like crazy about the tinyest thing. For example, as a trial how-to, she told us to write about how-to make a pb&j sandwich. I used "Jelly," and she told us that Jelly wouldn't spread, that it was impossible to spread, and we should ahve used "Jam."
I use Jelly, it works fine.
Grr.
What's something an idiot would need to know about a computer?
I'd rather it be a somewhat common task..... non-computer related.
Hmmmmm
