Artificial Inteligence means quite literally (as defined well by fancy boy) An entity built by humans able to absorb and apply knowledge.
You don't think it's true? It's already begun. Computer/Robotics labs at many universities around the globe have been experimenting with AI Robotics and have watched as their robots 'learn' to walk, solve puzzles, and even interact with each other. They didn't program these robots to do any of these things, just the programming to 'learn' it.
I think AI Robotics is amazing stuff. AI is not just a set of replies to a massive amount of stimuli, as many of you are seeing it. This is not intelegence. This is just massive programming defined by humans. Of course a robot can walk and talk and comunicate with others if we tell it how. AI IS a set of algorithms to learn from it's experiences and apply that to new processes. We don't teach AI how to act, we teach it how to learn. Therefore, with AI advanced enough, it is very possible for AI robots to 'take over the world' If they saw it fit. Of course, the technology for this isn't hear today, but the concept is. You cannot 'program' AI to NOT do evil, because it may eventually learn to reprogram itself OR disreguard old commands.
All this is possible!
