Hi,

I would like to make an application that will propt the user to enter a serial key in after 10 or 30 days...

if that is possible..

also

i would allso like to make a keygen tha will work with this program.

can anybody help me with this
or is it imposssible?

Then my best suggestion to you would be to get a book on Visual Basic programming, either from the library or buy one used for cheap. Learn how to perform conditional statements. That will at least get you started.

well you need to decide what type of encyption your going to use. VB.net has its own file encryption, the File class has Encrypt() and Decrypt() methods that will hide important information from prying eyes. These methods use your login account to build the key used to do both the encryption and decryption, so they’re
not terribly secure.

Otherwise there PLENTY of books and sites out there about encryption.

Once you settle on the algorithm then you can have a look a coding it.

or you could use a startup form that asks the user to enter in a number that matches certain criteria, eg a six digit number where every 3 digit is 2 or something and then validate it.

Algorithm (not code)
startingpoint = 2

loop 2 times
if key.substring(startingpoint,1) =2 then
startingpoint = 5
continue
else
message "wrong key"
end if

but that sorta thing is really easy to crack if they wanted to

well i know a simple way.

open up Visual Basic 2008
create a new Window form application
Add a text box
add a label saying ,enter serial key,
then add a button saying Register

know double click on the button to open up the code editor

in sert this piece of code

If textbox1.text = "'Serial key goes here'" Then
 messagebox.show("Thank you for regerstring this product")
 else 
 Messagebox.show("Invalid Serial Key")
 End If 

That should give you what you are looking for
even thought it is a very simple way.

but this wont give yo a worning after 30 days. so you would have to use it as a Start up form
and Quit the program if the user dosen't enter a serial key.

Think how you could make it expire after 30 days. Here's one of the most basic methods, which would be easy to hack, but nonetheless you might learn something from making it:

• Make a note of the date of installation.
  
• Calculate what the date will be in 30 days.
  
• If the system date matches the expiry date, lock out the program.

Oh, making a key generator is as simple as pye. I will show you a more "complex" mode to make a keygen, so please follow my steps in this tutorial:

First, make a form, if you got one, pass this step.
Make a button called "Get Reg Key" or whatever.
After this, you must make three neared textboxes, and at the properties tab modify the value MaxLenght to 4(this means you can only enter a 4 numbers code in them).
Now, double-click on the button "Get Reg Key" or whatever you named it, and paste the following code:

TextBox1.Text = Int(Rnd() * 1000)
		TextBox2.Text = Int(Rnd() * 7890)
		TextBox3.Text = Int(Rnd() * 54)
   End Sub

Make a new button, name it "Register:, double-click on it and paste the following code:

If TextBox3.Text = ("Button1") And TextBox2.Text = ("Button1") And TextBox1.Text = ("Button1") Then
			Me.Hide()
		Else
			MsgBox("Register Sucsessful!", MsgBoxStyle.Information)
		End If
	End Sub

Now, we''l talk about the code we've entered, and the actions who will take place:
TextBox1.Text = Int(Rnd() * 1000)
TextBox2.Text = Int(Rnd() * 7890)
TextBox3.Text = Int(Rnd() * 54)
means that, the code will generate some random numbers, and also show them each on the three textboxes. "1000" or "7890" is the maximum number to be randomly generated, so you can change it but with this configuration, only to a 4 numbers code, like "1009".

will tell the button that, it can only show the message "register succesful...." if the number inserted is one generated by the "Get Reg Key Button". Isn't it logycaly???
Notes:
In the contex you asked:a register a program key generator,you should add a button Register, who will get you to the form wich contains the code and Code Generators. Make a button named "Register" on the form you want, and enter this code:

FormX.Show()

Where X is the number of the form where are those buttons showed upper.
Also, you may put in the same form with the upper buttons, a button named "Cancel", so people can close that form, if they don't want to register.Here's the code:

Me.Hide()
