Hack some stuff with Citizen Engineer

Posted 20 July 2008 - 08:51 AM

We don't condone most hacking here on DIC but these videos were shown at the Last HOPE conference here recently and made available to the public. The hacking techniques shown in this video are for entertainment and understanding and most likely won't work on the latest technologies. They are still fun to learn and understand how older technology used.

This video is great for those days where you are bored. Enjoy!

One always hear about these things AFTER they happen. I could have went to that.

Not that I am much of a hacker, but I like to keep an ear to the wall as it were.

BTW: the video is already gone.

what do you mean it is already gone? The video is still there on that site. You can watch it right now, no problem. It isn't going to be taken down or anything.

The music at the beginning of that video is so trippy.

EDIT: OMG 100 posts! I'll go to bed now!
I think that from now on, any of my contributions to DIC will be from editing this post. 100 is such a perfect number. (and a perfect square)

I watched the video and Ill have to say....that chick is amazingly knowledgeable and resourceful. I mean, she took a practically salvaged payphone, and went through the extra trouble of making it not only take coins, but hold the coins until the phone call is over and make it able to be red boxed....just wow, amazing achievement on her part. :P

btw. thanks for the head's up on the 2600 book. im definitely going to pick that up :D

"Back then", hacking and phreaking were pretty similar. Now that Internet isn't exclusively through phone lines and people don't have to dial in to access the Internet, it's grown apart. Phreaking is still alive, but it's barely breathing :P
