Well, I'll disagree with you there. Just the other day I was working on my sourceforge project at the airport. Then tonight it was on the couch. As well it can go with me to a friends house. & as long as I keep it on a backup else where, I can survive it being stolen or destroyed.

However, on a separate note, desktops can be upgraded, & changed in thousands of ways that laptop cannot.

So I didn't vote because they each have their own pros & cons, & I enjoy them both equally. :^:

I do it by choice. I hardly ever use a Desktop for anything.

That last two companies I've worked for (Verizon and Belo Corp) have given us laptops with docking stations, 20" flat panels, mouse devices, and keyboards, so that we can work from home on bad weather days and when we get the on-call pager. I do all of my work coding and personal coding on laptops. Granted, my home lappy has a 17" screen and I also have a 21" flat panel when I get really serious, but I have found it just as productive as a desktop. Now, if it were a 15" display, that might not be the case, but I would never buy such a small display.

I voted for desktop. It is cheaper to make a powerful desktop rather than powerful laptop and often it is more comfortable.

I have both, and I use desktop almost all the time when I am at home.

I voted for desktop just for the fact that it was losing :). Seriously though, you cannot really compare the two. I own a Desktop which I use for gaming mainly. Whereas my laptop I use to just chill out on sofa, read some emails surf the net or do some banking etc..

They both have there uses but everyone uses each for separate reasons.

If a laptop had the features my desktop has, it would break your shoulder.

If I am on business I take a laptop, but it is so hard to work with just one little screen.

I voted laptop for mobility but if you're a gamer and/or love to upgrade, you'd prefer a Desktop.

Definitely Laptops... dont get me wrong desktops are nice but the idea that i can go sit on my porch kick my feet up and have a beer while coding just beats out all the rest.

I said desktop, I just like that they can always be on easily (without having to worry about battery life and that type of thing) as well as you get to use a full keyboard (that comes standard with the computer) and you don't have to worry about the touch pad.

Yeah that is a good bonus, what annoys me is when the sun comes out and you can't see your screen

Desktop - easier to troubleshoot/repair and better performance.
