To make a long story short: I have a string of christmas lights, I have a stereo. I want the intensity of the light to fluxuate with the volume of the stereo.

The xmas lights take 115V from a wall socket. The stereo outputs 2 channels of 6ohms up to 50watts which I will be splicing together to make one mono channel for this application (although 2 strands and stereo reactivity would be funky )


First off, I don't know what this type of circutry application is called.

Second off, I don't know how to build one.

I do have some elementary experience in reading schematics and building things on circutboard. I also have a bucket of various transistors, resistors and relays.


So if anyone could at least help me with what the damn thing is called, cause I don't even know how to start searching in google.

If anyone wants to help me to the point where you could provide a schematic or tutorial, I would be grateful!

I know it is possible cause them "punk kids"(around here they really are, OY) do that in their cars with neon at 12 volts

I wish i knew how to modify it to not output DC to a LED.

I need it to output AC to a female outlet plug.
