Hi all...
I was wondering if any of you heard about Eyeblaster? (eyeblaster.com)
It's some kind of plateform for advertising...
I'm really interested on their out-of-banner ad.
My question is: Can Flash macromedia do the samething?
for an example:
ad of snikers --> http://www.eyeblaste..._Let_Hunger.htm
EyeblasterEyeblaster = Flash?

kyouto... cmon...
pandaboy : well yes that is flash...but also like above those ads REALLY turn off users... they are annoying and a big waste of time... i dont click on ads like that just because they popped up.. if they were in maybe a banner i would have a much better chance of clicking on it.

Capty, your totally wrong.. They don't REALLY turn off users if they are still used. Marketing companies don't continue doing somthing if it isnt effective.
Snickers wouldnt spend money on that ad if it didnt work. It does, so stop thinking they don't!

I guess the main question for me is if the ad is intrusive... The ones on yahoo arn't that bad they just pop up on the right side of the screen and do not replace any information, they go away after a few moments and don't have sound. The ones that pop up in the middle of the page blaring out of the speaker are a huge turn off.

They think they work because you goto click the fucking link on the page and right at that moment "GUNNA BE A WHILE" shows up to replace your link. Thereby they get +1 count, and if your patient enough to stick around that site to find more stuff out.... probably do it 2 or 3 mroe times, adding more to thier little counter, which the board looks at and sees "wow... so many people click'n them... they work"

rofl..You think its thats simple? you think big companies go, oh look a hit, it works, and then forever use it? There are ways to see if the user browses through more then just the first page it leads to. There are questions on forms that ask how you found the site (perhaps a advertisement). Give snickers as an example. If the users left without entering the contest they are advertising, they would wonder why so many hits but no submissions, and then come to your explination as people just click it by accident. But if they keep it up, its obviouslly not the case.

yeah they do work. they might not work on experienced internet users like us, but remember not everyone is so experienced.
my mum for example, when she gets on the computer to check her emails or visit a website. she always ends up clicking on some advertisment, more particularly those flash ones.
its funny when she comes across those banners that look like windows dialog boxes, she doesnt realise they are adverts and calls me over cos she thinks theres something wrong.
i cant believe the amount of time my mum wastes when using the computer.
in conclusion: those annoying flash adverts do work.

lol. ign.com's splash page is just an advertisment. they should just pack up already. i remember the old days of ign when they use to have their black color scheme, with NO advertisments.....oh those were the days..

those ads are just another attempt of markets to make the web more tv like, where you can't ignore the advertising that the content provider is selling you. they are just like commercials as fair as i'm concerned.
if they are creative enough i'll watch 'em, if not, i'll just switch to another tabbed browser window and come back to that other page once the commercial is over.
you all should recgonize that if you're a web designer/advertiser/marketer you need to pay attention and notice these types of promotions instead of blasting them, there's something for us all to learn out of those types of ads and it can be productive
that's all i've got to say about it

Long live banners if this is what you think we should be looking for. I'm all for within the designated size flash ads... great go for it. But this is bs and I refuse to goto sites that have these ads unless absolutly neccessary. I can and will hate and diss them.
