Just out of curiosity:
Do you listen to music while you work?
I started because the guy I shared an office with loved to play hard house and thats not my scene so I started bringing in headphones so I could at least hear something that didn't make me want to climb the walls

I can't work without it. The third thing I do after I login to Windows is to start playing music! Forth is to start IDE.

I can't program without music, I don't know what it is. I'm listening to Cradle of Filth right now.

Just pulled the headphones off the read the board, mostly because I need an excuse to take a break from the sound canceling headphones. Sometimes I'll be so involved in somethings I'll forget the tunes. Sometimes it's time for music and block out distraction.
The selection is eclectic. If I'm really working on something and want to focus on it, I'll choose something with no words or words I don't understand. Honestly, if the program is engaging enough, I won't hear anything. Music just makes it easier to get in the zone sometimes.

I work better with my Ipod. We have a radio in my office which I share with someone else, but I need to listen to my podcasts.

I always work hearing music on my PC. It just make my brain relax.

If I remember, I do. I tend to get involved in something and forget that I wanted to listen to something! But it does help me get a rhythm going, especially for tough projects.

I don't do music while working because it's too distracting. Either I love the music and end up actively listening to it, or I hate it and it annoys me.
Ugh. House music has gotten more and more popular and it just blows my mind how anyone can listen to that rubbish. I remember we used to make fun of it. In my early twenties (early to mid 90's) I lived in San Diego and my friends and I were going to all-night (the only kind back then) desert raves somewhere in soCal just about every weekend. There'd be DJs from around the country/globe playing trance, goa, break-beat, jungle, you name it, and hybrid stuff I'd never heard before (or since). These days, the crap they play in clubs that passes for techno (aka house, hard house, electronica, etc) makes me want to throw stuff at the DJ. Ok, rant over.
