Installation path

Posted 28 August 2008 - 10:39 AM

Hey guys, just a quick question. Can I specify somewhere the installation path of a 2008 Express .NET solution? I know it installs the files in a structure of random folders under user's profile but I would like to change that so the application would get installed in C:\Program Files\ or some place like that.

Is that possible?

Thanks in advance!

Yes. Just don't use ClickOnce to deploy your applications. Create a Setup and Deployment project and you can specify where you want to install it. However, be aware, there is a lot more involved with deploying applications in this manner.

Can this be done with Visual Basic .NET 2008 Express Edition? Or do I need Visual Studio 2008?

Hm, if I recall correctly this is not an option with the Express version. I think you can only use ClickOnce. Someone correct me I am wrong, I've never used Express myself.
