Adding a Flash movie onto a web page

Posted 02 September 2008 - 08:37 AM

Hi all,

One of our company's suppliers has provided a Flash movie regarding one of their new products for us to add to our website. On designing the page for the movie to go onto, I created a table, gave it title, logo, etc and tried to add the movie as an object into one of the table cells.

Here is my code:

In the <head> section:
		<script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
		<script type="text/javascript">
		swfobject.registerObject("esign", "7")
		</script>

And in the <body> section where I would like the movie to display:
			<td>
				<object id="esign" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="800" height="575">
				<param name="movie" value="../images/esignanywhere.swf" />
				<object type="x-shockwave-flash" data="../images/esignanywhere.swf" width="800" height="575">
				<p>You must have Flash v7.0 or higher to view this movie</p>
				</object>
				</object>
				</td>

I followed instructions given at code.google.com for this, written by one of the guys who came up with swfobject (apparently).

Can anyone shed any light on why this is not working please?

Thanks,
Bort

Sorry I don't have any answers, but I'm also having problems with the SWFobject from code.google.com and I've got basically the same code setup as you do (without the <td> tag). I can load the page, but I just see a blank area where the video should be. If I right click I get the Flash 9 menu options so I know the player is there. But no video or any sign of video. I've tried in Firefox 3 and IE 7. I've tried using the SWFobject method you're using (which I like best because it validates as XHTML along with the rest of my site) with no luck. I'm no help, but I'm extremely interested if someone can help with SWFobject and code.google.com.

If you using dreamweaver you can download extensio9n that fixes everything easily for you.

Try this link Download extension

Anyways I use this all the time. You should try it out.

Thanks for the tip, but it seems to be only for Dreamweaver MX/MX2004. I'm using MacromediaAdobe DW CS3 and it doesn't appear to be compatible.
