time out expired

hi i ma using a query like to select country code using between query cause ip

if im using this query i will fetch value sometime but i will display time out expired error some time.

to over come this problem what can i to do

can share your ideas with me

my query is

SELECT countryShort FROM IPCITYLATLONGISP WHERE '3678433939' between ipFrom and ipTo

Few things you can do here.
  • Try to add some other search criterias if available.
  • Look for proper table indexes.
  • Try to increase the query response time out period (not really recommended)

what is '3678433939'? Is that a column name? Looks strange.

The ip is probably the "intyfied" format of the ip. its a valid way to represent an ip.
i assume the IPCITYLATLONGISP table is huge.

I am wondering however:
- are the ip adresses stored in the same way in IPCITYLATLONGISP.ipFrom and IPCITYLATLONGISP.ipTo
- did you create indexes on both IPCITYLATLONGISP.ipFrom and IPCITYLATLONGISP.ipTo ?
