How to make a domain name for local network(intranet).

Currently im using XAMPP to host a local network server. Users have to connect via router ip address (127.0.0.1). Im wishing to make it so users just have to type in intranet in there web browsers and connect up.

Local network names can be resolved via the hosts file.

Since you did not specify OS information, then you'll have to research for the location.

Just an addition to what no2pencil said....you'll need to change the hostname files for each of the machines connecting to the intranet.
