I had to re-install XP on my comp and when I'm trying to setup my broadband internet (ADSL) it doesnt work. I put the CD I got from my provider but it keeps saying that there is a problem with my gateway and cant go on with the installation.
I tried following the manual setup http://bigpond.custh...p;p_faqid=14645 but when I go into my network connections theres nothing there. My comp isn't detecting the modem and there are no connections.
Anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

hello kaizc,
i have read the manual that you send it.
i understand the problem, but i need more information.
you are saying that it is telling you it is a problem of gateway.
ok, can you tell me where it is asking for the gateway? you are arriving to the page of username and password??
or it is doing the problem before?
you can connect to the website of the modem or you can't??
is you network adapter configured as obtaining automatically IP address? or you've put it a static IP
ok if you put as a default gateway the IP address of the modem, what it will tell you then???
sorry for all these questions, but i have to understand.

it tells me there is a problem with the gateway when I use the CD from my provider. when I do the recommended setup on the CD it tests the gateway first and then says there is a problem with your gateway please restart your computer and reboot cd. It does this before it asks for username and password. Thats why I tried the manual setup but when I go to network connections theres nothing there.
I can't connect to the website of the modem. When I try to go to any webpage a pop up comes up saying Internet Explore cannot search for the page.
the network adapter is configured as automatic. I'm not sure about the last question, I dont know how to do that.
thanks for your help

good morning,
ok for connecting to the website directly without using the CD:
if the IP address of the modem is 10.0.0.138, then go to you network adapter (TCP/IP) and put a static IP address
IP: 10.0.0.140
subnet mask: 255.0.0.0
default gateway: 10.0.0.138
and if necessary put the DNS: 10.0.0.138
and then try to ping 10.0.0.138
if it is working then go to ie, and put the address http://10.0.0.138
after that you should see the webpage of the modem. and you can continue from there.
try and reply back
