I was wondering if anyone out there knows of any IRC channels for software developers. I remember a friend using one many years ago, so I installed mIRC to see what I could find. So far no luck.
If not, what about other channels for general discussion with like minded people, Any suggestions?
Lee.

All the major networks have programming channels that are pretty big. Undernet, DALnet, even Quakenet all have programming channels. Quakenet has HUGE channels in #php, #c, #c++ and #java. #c++, #php, and #java have over 200+ people in them at any one time.
You will find similar channels on the other networks. Just go to a channel that is language specific and you are good to go.
Enjoy!

Freenode is a pretty professional network with official channels for linux, C++, CentOS, mysql...anything you can think of!
Yeah quakenet is pretty good as is efnet - quite a lot of professionals like freenode.
I'm not called homemade-jam on freenode
