win32 API Drag and drop

I've been looking around a whole bunch of websites recently trying to find information on drag and drop for windows API. I'm writing a program where I want to pull any program, file, shortcut... whatever... and have it take the target path, any advanced commands tagged onto the end, and the icon for the program. so far I've run into nothing usefull. any helpful hints?

MSDN has full documentation on the Windows API.
