Ekostudios V3

Posted 27 February 2003 - 09:51 PM

Alright, might as well let it out. Ekostudios v3 is coming. New design, as well as new attitude. The entire concept of the site is changing. The only similarities with the old site is that its called ekostudios.com and im running it.

The following is what i have so far. Dont worry, this isnt how the interface will look :P. This is simply a functionality test. This window system will be used extensively in the new design, and if there is one little bug in the window system, the entire site might as well be crapped.

http://eko.morobo.co...ments/eko2.html

The only thing about the windows that i still am working on is scrollbars. I've gotten them to appear a little fuzzy on occation, and they are the only thing not color skinnable. I'm working on that.

Now i don't want blah blah, i dont like the colors, blah blah blah. The colors arent final by any means. The visual feel, however, is.

What i want to hear is:

a) how do you like the visual feel
B) could you 'break' (cause a unexpected and/or ugly event) a window?
c) is everything you would think of on a window implimented here? and in the right spot? (xempt maximize-fullscreen. I dont want whitespace or full screened things)
d) any thing you would add or remove or change?

DANKA FRIENDS!

I hope you enjoy playing with the bugger! and try to break it! I want you to break it!

Mucho thanks,
Eko

(BAJUNK! I meant to post this in sitecheck! Mod care to toss it over there?)

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I kind of got tired of people using 'dragable windows' in flash like a year ago because most of the time there is no 'true' purpose to actually have them dragable. Most people just put them on their site cause they are 'there' to have. Yours however does have some cool features such as resizing the window, but Unless its used in a useful mannar somehow, whats the point? Cool experiment, but im looking forward to seeing how well you use it!

Good to hear that it's so far unbreakable.

Yes quik, I know what your saying and am also not an avid fan of flash draggable windows. The new design won't use them often, but they are quite necissary when they are used.

i fixed that.

now on with the windows. i like it, i didnt break them with in the time i played with it. like 3-4 minutes but, i like the features. the resize is cool. i like how you cant make it better than the image is. so you get no white space. the scrollbars work like a charm. and the minimize thing is pretty cool too. very nice work. i shouldnt expect anything less from you man.

oh crap.

I just realized that i didnt embed the font.

So if the title font looks not cool to you, its probably because you dont have the "Silkscreen" font on your computer.

I'm going to work on embeding that font.

I think the FPS needs boosting, so that it looks smoother.

Ditto.

That file is actually set to 1 fps.

The actionscript is all run by the timer. If your computer is fast, then so will be the animation.

when i drag the small window labeled "Chippy" out onto the green BG, it gets stuck and can't be dragged back in where it started. also, everything in that window except the text disappears. dunno if that's important.
