Posted 27 October 2008 - 04:55 AM

i want to know what is the difference between forum and blogs? i mean how bolgs are different from forums. As i had only joined some forums but never join a blog so i am interested in it about.
Secondly , what as i see many blogs almost all of them (excluding dreamincode blogs) did not allow us to post a topic , so did only moderator/owner of website can create. Even on many site i am unable to loacate to create a new profile for user.

Since this has nothing to do with Operating Systems, or Computer Support, and for a lack of a better idea of where it should go, I'm moving this to the Corner Cubical (If someone has a better place please move it :) )

Forums are generally communities of people with similar interests - members are able to contribute ideas, opinions, and other things. they are built to provide a place where people can pool information, and be part of something larger.

A blog is more like a personal journal, where one or one group of individuals expresses thoughts and opinions. Would you let someone else write in your personal journal?

Isn't that what the comment feature is for? ;)

I can make fun of you on a forum and have effect.
I can't do that on a "blog?"

A "blog" is the equivalent to an "Online Diary."
A "forum" is a discussion of things -- Such as a PROGRAMMING FORUM. A place where PROGRAMMERS can DISCUSS PROGRAMMING.

Thanks all,
one thing more please which is confusing me as Amadeus say

"Absolutely the comment feature is available...but would you let someone write a main entry"

so who can write a main entry can we also start a main topic if i am interested in it OR only those which is allowed by administratore.Till now i did not find to write by my own main entry on almost all blogs.

Unless you are the blog owner, you cannot write a main entry.

Forums are places where people let's say "meet" and start talking about a topic proposed by a user...

Blogs are places where guests are invited to read articles and comment on the articles written by the blog author. Blogs allow you starting topics only if the owner accepts this.

But, generally, blogs are used for writing articles and forums are for discussions.
