Transfer my asp.net project to Webserver

Post icon  Posted 31 October 2008 - 05:18 AM

I have Visual Studio 2008 running on my laptop. I am finished my asp.net project and now want to transfer it to the Windows 2003 Server and run it from a web page. I have a mapped folder to the server from my laptop. In the Website menu I select "Copy Website" and successfully copied it to the mapped folder. Now I opened IIS and under Default Website added a new virtual Directory and changed the local path to where my mapped folder is located with the files. This is as far as I got. I looked in the help files but could not find anything. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

right-click on the web project and choose "Publish". then publish to the virtual directory on the server.

Ok. Now that. Now I keep getting an error:

Line 12: <sectionGroup name="system.web.extensions" type="System.Web.Configuration.SystemWebExtensionsSectionGroup, System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35">

It sounds as if those assemblies arent being copied over with your project. Take a look at this and see if it can resolve your issue :)

I don't think it matters what IDE you're using, I think this works the same for .Net 3.0+ as it does for 2.0+
