Welcome to dream in code!
There's a snippet which does what you want to do, plus a little more.
Example, 456 becomes four hundred and fifty six.
You'll just have to browse through them and find it.
Other than that:

There has actually been quite a few posts about this. Just look in the history pages so you can see how other people started their code and see what the common mistake is.
