Travian clone

Posted 13 November 2008 - 02:10 PM

Im going to start making a travian clon, if you are interested in making a team please contact me.

All people is welcome to help with ideas but to code it only experimented people please.

If somebody is expert in database optimization that would help a lot.

I already checked some clones available and they all suck, especially devana so the idea is to make a serious one.

A clone of anything will suck unless you add enough new things for it to no longer really be a clone. Just make something original enough to begin with, don't just copy Travian.

Hrm? That wasn't very nice. I was trying to be helpful, actually, by reminding you to still find ways to change the original game.

all people is welcome to HELP with ideas, for example how to do some calcs, but only EXPERIMENTED people for coding issues. i dont want a noob creating part of the db as it must be optimized. We are launching the game in 4-5 months and the graphic designer is already working on it. My site has 120000 visits per day so this is not a joke.

It sounds like he just wants a bunch of people to do all the work for him. Remember avasi, we do not provide code here without the evidence of effort.

Or, I have given code before, but it's useless to those who don't understand how it works.

why does everyone always have to be an English teacher?

The guy is asking for a team to work on his project, its a very simple request.

Well i wouldn't help anyone who couldn't be bothered to make sure there request is fully understandable,
most of this post was very hard to understand. I would say pointing out the errors in that would help in the long run.

But maybes your right, I drink to much the line is blurred :D

Well yes, considering I know plenty of people who can speak acceptable English and choose to replace words with single letters (u), talk in chat speak and any combination of those. I have given honest yet useful advice on designing a game around taking an idea and changing it up. It's unfortunate if I misunderstood your thread-opening post in what it was, exactly, that you really wanted. I am still not quite sure what it is you do want and I was hoping you would have more patience by realizing English isn't your best of languages and that we inherently are trying to help.

I figured he was not a native English speaker when he kept saying experimented, but I was more bothered by a "serious" job proposal that insults other people's projects. It's extremely unprofessional and immature.

A reasonable proposal to get people's interest I think should be something like:
Hi, I'm looking for people to work on a remake of Travian.
We need to fill the following positions (give programming languages/tools planned to use):
1.
2.
3.
I'll be doing this: blah blah blah...
Travian is... (synopsis for those that don't know, maybe link to a vid of the original game, etc.)
Maybe say generally how you want to change it rather than just say it's not going to suck. and "Please excuse my English" type statement if you're not a native English speaker (just so people know you're not just some lazy kid... sometimes it's hard to tell the difference).
BTW, what is "Travian"? I'm not familiar with this game.

Travian is a browser based game. Sort of like Tribal Wars. You have a village, and you can build it up, which takes time, and can even conquer other people's villages. That's the basics of it really.

Hope you don't have too large of a team working on this...
