very simple chat application in Python using UDP

I am very very new to programming and I need to create a simple chat application using UDP as protocol. I would like to code it in either Python or Java. I searched and found indeed some tutorials but they all seem too confusing. Can anyone guide give me an idiot's guide with code? I would really appreciate
