Debugging

Posted 19 November 2008 - 10:42 AM

So I've been coding professionally for a little over a year now and I'm still struggling with being able to thoroughly debug my own code. It's like in my head I know how certain things should be done and I find it hard at times to break my own program. I can debug someone else's work and tear it apart, but my own I struggle. I'm looking for any suggestions from you pros out there to help me in this respect.

Thanks,
J

I push the limits as best as I can by putting myself in a user's shoes. What might they do? How do I account for that? etc.... I have found the best way to test it is to have a non computer person (or several) run it a few times. It is indeed hard to get perspective when you've spent hours working on a project.
