obsolete/Deprecated Method.

Posted 19 November 2008 - 06:22 PM

Hi, I Was Reading A Tutorial For VB.Net About Socket Programmin and How To Create A Chat server + Client and I Came Across A Deprecated Method. The Error Was

Dim serverSocket As New TcpListener(8888)

Then It Said to Use It Like This

TcpListener(localEP as System.Net.IPEndPoint) or
TcpListener(localaddr as System.IpAdress, Port as Integer)

I Know What An IpAdress Is And A Port, But What's An IpEndpoint.

Also, For The IPAdress Do I Have To Use Mine Or The Client's That I'm Trying To Connect With.

Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated...

Thanks...

Shadow_x21... For modi123_1 I'll Just Put It At The End and In My Sig! B)

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

An ipendpoint is simply the IP address and PORT the socket is connecting to or listening on. You want to create a new socket, then use Socket.Connect(IPEndPoint) on the Client and Socket.Bind(IPEndPoint) then Socket.Listen on the Server.
