News Media & You!

Posted 20 November 2008 - 12:10 PM

As of recently I used Yahoo! as my home page. After the latest featured stories I am now in the hunt for a better news provider.

Where do you go to get your daily dose of world happenings?

Check out these featured articles on Yahoo! today:

"6th Sense star grows up"
"Unhealthy Burger Choices"
"Hidden Energy Suckers" // informative article telling me my Xbox could power San Diego and I should cease using this nasty resource hog forever.

Srsly folks - I need a new home page to find interesting news topics not stupid pointless shit like this. </rant>

I use the register. They're pretty good and most everything has an IT angle to it.

I use iGoogle. You weren't kidding about the stupidity of Yahoo!, although once signed in, the type of stuff changed from the idiotic crap that was on there to stuff like "Gas will drop well below $2 a gallon"...YOU THINK!!!! It's $1.89 a gal here in MD. Stupid news outlets have to state the obvious!

Unfortunatley i think anywhere you go you are going to be hammered with stupid celebrity news and other shit you don't care about.

Maybe try iGoogle it lets you select what you see on your home page. I have mine set up with weather sports news, local news, and a couple other random things. This way you are atleast getting different kinds of news in one place and you get to pick.

you can pick your digg or reddit categories and ignore the type of news you don't want to see. any good news site should be able to do that.

cnn --- which is turning shittier by the second. they have gone from revered for being about news to the most self-centered ad showing system i've seen.

moving towards bbc right now
or the local news sites

alot of it is crap, but some of it is good on the local ones.

CNN = Biased...

I want to be as non-biased as possible as well. I like the idea of Digg.

I used to use iGoogle and it always logged me out and just became a freaking hassle. Yahoo was the same way.

Mostly I am interested in Top US & World Events, Sports, Tech. I would like to create my own personal site something like Drudgereport.com or something where I can incorporate a ton of RSS feeds tailored to my liking. But RSS gives me a hard time sometimes.
