What's your Favorite Album? The one that Outshines All.

Posted 20 November 2008 - 05:54 PM

What's your favorite album of all time? I'm not talking about an album with one good song or two, but an album where every single song is special to you. Everyone knows the usual music charts idea (with sales) of the best albums ever (The Dark Side of the Moon, Thriller, etc). I'm really talking about the one album that means the most to you.

Mine would be Pearl Jam- "Ten"

I love every single song on the CD, each and every one.

1. Once
2. Even Flow
3. Alive
4. Why Go
5. Black
6. Jeremy
7. Oceans
8. Porch
9. Garden
10. Deep
11. Release

"Black" is an unbelievable song and "Garden" is just amazing! "Oceans" haunts you with its melody. Again, I could say something about each of them and how perfect they are. Check them out and see how amazing the rest of the CD is! It's the only I can think of, and I've listened and own alot, that all of it is flawless. Do you have anything that compares?

IBTL

Personally I think Metallica Black Album. My 13 year old even likes pretty much every song on that album.

Without a doubt, Skinny Puppy's album Rabies

While the live track isn't all that great... the entire album is the best that the band had to offer, even though it was during their darkest time. They couldn't even be in the studio together to record it, things were that tense between the members.

Track listing
1. "Rodent" 5:48
2. "Hexonxonx" 5:24
3. "Two Time Grime" 5:38
4. "Fascist Jock Itch" 4:58
5. "Worlock" 5:30
6. "Rain" 1:26
7. "Tin Omen" 4:36
8. "Rivers" 4:48
9. "Choralone" 2:43
10. "Amputate" 3:40
11. "Spahn Dirge (Live)" 16:23

The only reason I say Metallica Black Album - Although there older stuff was way better in a sense - ALmost every song on the Black Album was a hit single.

Enter Sandman
Nothing Else Matters
Wherever I May Roam
Don't Tread On Me
The Unforgiven
Through The Never

That's a valid point with the charts listing. But did you personally find ever song on the album great? Were they the best Metallica put on an album in your eyes? Not the charts

There are so many I could list here, but if I had to pick one album, and only one, where every song meant something to me?

American Beauty - Grateful Dead

I enjoy that Album yes - but my favorite Metallica songs are:
One
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
Fade To Black
Ride The Lightning
Don't Tread On Me
Until It Sleeps
Turn The Page (Remake of my all time favorite song)

Actually my all time favorite artist is Billy Joel - I have his entire discography on my iPod. I am not sure there is a song he made I did not like. It is very calming to listen to him when I am pissed off or stressing hard.

No Argument at all from me there. I am such a Dead Head! Went to GratefulFest last year. Agreed on how it could mean that much to you! You ever listen to any of Jerry's Bluegrass stuff, pre Dead?

Me at the Fest!

I loved "Captain Jack"! Awesome song! His best I think!

I've never been able to choose a favourite album as my choice changes with my mood.
I just pick a band for how I feel but my usual choices would roughly be:

If I feel like getting drunk and lying face down on the carpet then it's Nirvana
If I need to chill Bob Marley
If I'm feeling anti establishment - RATM or (Damien Marley if I'm not quite that worked up yet)
Feeling anti everything - Marilyn Manson
Feeling anti everything and wanting to kick it hard in the balls - Slipknot
Stomping through town so the crowds don't stop me - Disturbed

All sorts of moods - Gun 'n' Roses

But there are so many bands I like that this list doesn't do them justice or cover all of my moods.

You do have good taste though! Love the Marley and the GNR!

*edit*
Never heard of Nightwish! Love the other two. Going to check out a bit of Passion Play!

*edit*
Nightwish is heavy Classical? Different!

Heh... I would honestly have to say that Nightwish - Dark Passion Play is my all time fave, right under that is Metallica - Ride the Lightning, and Nirvana - Nevermind. Those are the top three of those where I havev enjoyed every song on it.

Visit the Nightwish Home Page here!!!

Lol... interesting way to post... just edit!! But no, the closest classification would have to be Symphonic Metal.

A couple of years back I went to a G'n'R concert. Even though it wasn't all of the original lineup they still rocked hard.
I was lucky choosing that night as the next night some morons started throwing stuff on stage and when a pound coin (quite a heavy chunky piece of metal) nearly hit one of the band Axl cancelled the show after about 3 songs and sent everyone home. I would have been royally p'd off if they had done that the night I was there.

Nightwish are cool, especially Tarja Turunen (nudge nudge) shame she's not with them anymore.
