is it worth spending the time learning python at the moment?
i see that python 3 is due soon. Is python 3 going to be well supported from day 1, or is it going to take a long time for libraries to migrate to python 3. I'm think of libraries such as numeric, opengl, sdl, mysql, bindings etc. which would be the libraries of interest to me.
thanks,
tim

While my first hand knowledge of library migration isn't specific to python, I feel that i can answer your question. When a brand new iteration of a language comes out, there is always a delay. First for people to get up to speed on the new features, omissions, etc.. and then some more time for those people to write or port tools/libraries over to the new version. So, personally, I don't think it would hurt to start learning python.

Yes, it would definitely be worth your time. The syntax and API changes are minimal, although it does break old applications.
