Ok I have a job interview tomorrow afternoon for an Event IT Support Technician.
This is not your typical event technician role: We provide intelligent digital solutions for events, and are looking for someone who can provide a personal service to our clients, giving them full confidence in the solutions we provide.
Heres what is expected of me:-
* To check, store and manage equipment before and after an event
* To travel to and set up IT equipment at events
* To provide technical support throughout the event
* Co ordinate with Event support manager on regular basis to ensure the event is delivered to the highest quality standards
* To work in the office to move into an IT Manager role
What I would like to know is what do people who frequnt these forums, what questions (of a technical nature) would you ask in the interview?
Cheers for any help.
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section.

Can't say too much, I'm a software guy more than hardware.
Expect questions like "what would you need for <insert obscure event here>"
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

They are likely to give you scenarios with common and uncommon problems, wanting to know your logical course of action and testing to solve the problem.
Right or wrong, you will want to start simple and work your way up, the simple problems, like improperly connect cables, or unplugged hardware can cause more troubles than anything else as they commonly get overlooked.

They will ask :
Operating procedures. Like William_Wilson brought up, they'll want an example of how you dealt with a complex situation.
How good are you at following directions?
How's your driving record?
How good are you at giving directions? Possibly dealing with non-IT staff.
What are your documentation capabilities?
Give examples of times you took leadership roles.
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?

Ah sorry to hear that sneblot, I know how u feel.
I bombed an interview in the not too distant past for a hospital IT position. I thought the interview was going pretty well until they got to questions regarding how I would handle the emergency room operations. I did not do what you did here and research this particular aspect of hospital IT operations. After my first answer (don't even remember the questions) the feeling in the room shifted and I got a few more questions (panel interview someone shoot me instead plz) all about ER issues. I was sweating hard when I got out of there and wanted to end the interview early for them to spare us all, yack.
ANyhoo you did the right thing, hang in there!

I know I though the interview had gone really well myself. Some really simple questions (like what does ping and trace route mean?).

Mmmmm dont u just love meat n potatoes IT interview questions and getting to knock a few out of the park?? That is a nice warm fuzzy feeling. With the low impact IT questions I wonder if they were looking for someone with more of a business management or even sales/trainer background?

We had a very high volume of high quality candidates for this role, and the decision to take other candidates was based on their level of relevant experience for the role (setting up IT equipment at roadshows etc) .
This is the email I got in response to mine asking for interview feedback.
