A Question About Domain Names

Posted 01 June 2003 - 04:30 PM

Here's the thing, I have a stable host (for images, pages, etc.), but I have a cjb.net domain name with pop-ups. I was wondering, if I can just get an ad-free .com domain name?

Looks like a good deal. Now, with a domain name like that, all pop-ups will stop, eventhough the pages are free pages?

yea, cause is your domain. no one else will own it so they cant touch. the only things you have to worry about are things you do to it yourself. unless of course your host is the one putting adds. in which case your still screwed.

yes don't forget that while the domain might be only 8.95, you will pay a monthly fee for hosting. shop around because prices vary *widely*.

Okay, it's $8.95 a year for the domain and ADDITIONALLY, you will need to purchase hosting from one of a hundred-thousand hosting companies out there. Also, it's not just the domain you have currently that is causing the ads and pop-ups but the hosting service. They have to make money somehow if they're giving free hosting so they use this as an exploit to use pop-ups and other advertising methods.

There's cheaper hosts than http://www.digitalbr...dmultimedia.com.

Go to http://www.bihwebs.com <- allows adult material if you want to have any
or to http://www.gnxonline.com <- very low prices

Take a look at those hosts.
