Visual J#

Posted 13 October 2001 - 01:53 PM

After breaking off relations with Sun Microsystems, our buddies at M$ are releasing their newest offering to the "Java" community with Visual J# which from the note at the bottom of the info page says:

"Applications and services built with Visual J# .NET will run only on the .NET Framework, and will not run on any Java virtual machine. Visual J# .NET has been independently developed by Microsoft. It is not endorsed or approved by Sun Microsystems, Inc."

Guess those two still aren't talking.  good to know that my J++ stuff will still work in .NET... just not on a VM as usual.  anyone know a good Java authoring environment?  or VJ++6 still good enough?

I would recommend checking out a program called IntelliJ, www.intellij.com.  A buddy of mine is a Java developer, and he swears by it. I also played with IBM's VisualAge for Java, and, believe it or not, it was really a cool tool.
