Huh? That was my snippet, not a recommendation to automate the process. That would be a nightmare.
How to know if my code snippet or tutorial was approved?I am really confused... :S

I wanted to let everyone know that the new version of Dream.In.Code is starting to take shape on paper. I'm meeting with our PHP developer on Monday. The designer has the wireframe and is working on an initial mockup. I'll be going through our Uservoice site to give the developer a list of features to incorporate in the next snippets database.

So just thinking out loud here in this thread. The next version of snippets needs to include the ability to track the status of your submitted snippets/tutorials. An email on approval AND disapproval. Maybe some sort of algorithm showing current ETA for approval (i.e. average of last 10).
Can you think of anything else that would help those of you submitting content know the status of your contributions?

A dedicated snippet search system is in the works too right? If so, then the above and that would make the snippets section golden.
Being able to pick what language section would be gravy.

I think the next version will have tags which will make searching easier. It's tough to search "code" unless people put good descriptions. I'll probably have a group go through and tag all the old snippets once we get the new system built and deployed. But a search will definitely be part of the new system.

Good point. Tags sounds like a better alternative.

My suggestion would be making the snippet pages similar to what all pages on forum are (having the same color scheme and formatting) - something like the tutorial section is.
I would also suggest making the Copy & Paste section expandable, so by default it wouldn't be visible (and won't take the space) and will open only if the user clicks an expander button.

Core,
Good ideas, can you submit them to the uservoice site I linked a few posts ago.
