I can't remove transparent white pixels!

Posted 29 December 2008 - 09:21 PM

Hello everyone,

I'm having a bit of difficulty with a transparent GIF. I have a transparent rounded corner that acts like a "mask" for the content below it. My problem is that whenever I optimize it for the web, light pixels appear from the transparency, making my image look horrid! So my question is this, what is the best way to render web-safe transparent images? Or perhaps what I'm asking is how can I make smoother corners? You know...less....pixely.

I attached an image of what I mean. The round corner where the green meets the darker colors. There is a very fine white-ish line. This makes my image look really bad. Any thoughts?

Go for .png images. They allow for full or partial transparency, but do require newer browser to be seen correctly (IE 7+ and Mozilla whatever), though IE 5+ can render them correctly if using the CSS filter for .png images.

I have tried PNG as well, but the colors are always skewed a bit. The images always come out a slightly different hue than the colors I use on the site, making it look very weird. I agree PNG would be the better way to go, but how can I maintain exact color when rendering for the web?

I'm using Photoshop CS4 to do my images, there are just soooo many options O_o

I'm not sure this is exactly what you're looking for, but see if #6 on this page helps you.
