Thats why all volenters are required to carry tasers with them at all times. Just in case things get out of control.

Ooh! I like tasers! Can I have some? I also have a rather impressive collection of sharp pointy things that's probably come in handy. (Wanted my own lightsaber, but haven't found a functioning one YET.)

Oh, one other thing. Unlike being a Walmart greeter, you don't have to be over the age of 65 or harass people when they try to bring stuff in to the store with them :)

Yeah. I guess that means I could be a greeter.

Definitely, it's really gratifying knowing that you're introducing members to D.I.C. and sort of setting the pace for their stay here on the site.

You can introduce yourself by starting a new topic in the introduce yourself forum. Tell us a little bit about yourself. We do have a template if you want:

If you don't mind taking the time to genuinely welcome people to dream.in.code, then I don't mind genuinely giving you a free DIC++ subscription and the "Greeter" badge if you don't already have a badge :)

Can you still receive DIC++ for being a greeter?

It depends, either way, I might speak to skyhawk about re-initiating the greeters.

FWIW- I've been away from here for some time, but am back and Find it sad that newbs are given the cold shoulder on ANY site. I know that this is a legit, quality site with tons of helpful folks. I'm a coding neophyte myself, but a vet of the internet and find it simply reprehensible that new members posts are ignored... "Welcome" is totally generic, costs a poster nothing, and is only 7 keystrokes.
And... its not difficult. Its shameful that someone who originally posted in August did not have a greeting until March.

I guess most of the people here don't frequent the "Introductions" forum because all the fun of the internet can be found in one place here, the "Caffeine Lounge". I guess it's been a long time since anyone made an introduction and proved to be an addition to this site too, I don't know, I haven't seen an introduction of a familiar face. Time will tell if one of the people who made an introduction will be here to stay. :)
