Why does windows not let me rip to mp3 only as wma im going to make a programme to rip as mp3 ain been bothered to figuer it out since my computer died but ill have a new one tomorrow lol

It lets you do only wma so that it can still keep tabs on music licensing. With wma windows has implemented better control for copyrights and can prevent the file from being played on some other systems. That is not always the case but generally it is to help control illegal ripping from disk to a format that it doesn't control like MP3.

My preference is ExactAudioCopy and I encode to ogg.

ok you need diffrent ripping software.
or when its in wma just convert it using super.
lol
theres tons of ripping softare especilly free ones.

OK, unless I am out of my mind Windows Media Player does let you rip to mp3s. Just go to tools<options<rip music, then under rip settings and format, choose mp3. Also, make sure your audio quality is set to "best quality." That should work--it did for me.
