Matrix Effect in Javascript

Post icon  Posted 14 January 2009 - 01:07 AM

First I just want to say I am new to all this code stuff... I know a little HTML and am learning Javascript. My problem is I learn the hard way. It is very hard for me to just read something and be able to do it. I have to hack it up, slice it to pieces, destroy it and then put it back together or try to until I get it right. I am trying to create the Matrix Effect for my computer. I have the basics of what I am trying to do but need the tweaking parts I guess. I can create the symbols, arrange everything in a file and get it to run, but it only drops 1 or 2 rows at a time. I would like to get it to do more than that.

I don't know any of the language for programming so telling me to put this in here and type this there probably won't help to much. If someone could just tell me where I could find some code example of what I am looking for so I can hack it to bits it would be great. It doesn't even have to pertain to my project, just something similar, and I can figure it out from there. I know what <b>Bold</b>, <i>Italics</i>, <br>page break</br>,stuff like that. I can design a very basic web page in HTML and link the pages together, ( not drag and drop ) actual HTML code. That is about the extent of my knowledge in this coding stuff, but I am a fast learner...

So if anyone can tell me how to go about doing this without having to spend 4 yrs in collage, I would be grateful...

The New Guy,
Lionking

P.S. I have been to a couple of forums before and it seems I need to give more info, so here is what I know; I run Win XP, I have java script, I have Adobe Reader, I have PhotoScape.
What I don't have is anything that costs money. No Photoshop, or any other program you have to buy cause I have no money...

Open the code in an editor and mess around with the timeouts etc.
Trial and error isn't a bad way to learn : )
