Forbidden error?

Posted 17 January 2009 - 08:30 PM

I am attempting to post a C++ problem in the C++ forums, but it keeps bringing up the message:

"FORBIDDEN! You are not allowed to view this page." or something like that.

It does this even when I go to preview a post.

I made sure and followed the rule of marking my code with the appropriate BB tag...

Do I need to post a certain number of posts in order to post a new topic in the C++ forum?

I'm puzzled.

BB,
Kat ^.^

There are some filters that don't allow you to post.

Are you posting any make commands?

LOL.

no2pencil, he posted it in the right forum, Site Feedback is only for suggestions and ideas now, the new Questions and Technical Support forum is for bugs and problems.

Moving it back to Questions and Technical Support.

Do you have "gcc" anywhere in your post?

Well, looking at the text editor file I saved on my bf's computer, I did see that I mention "g++"

Do you think that would cause a problem? And if so, why?

By the way, skyhawk...I'm a female. ;)

Let me do a quick look through our log files for your IP and see if I can find the problem.

And after reading (and replying) to your introduce yourself, I did discover you are in fact female :) Welcome :)

That's what it was:

httpd/error_log:[Sat Jan 17 21:20:40 2009] [error] [client ***************] mod_security: Access denied with code 403. Pattern mat
ch "g\\\\+\\\\+\\\\x20" at POST_PAYLOAD [severity "EMERGENCY"] [hostname "www.dreamincode.net"] [uri "/forums/index.php?"]

I'm going to check with our server admins and see if we can get that removed because I know you're not the first to encounter that issue.

Just put g+ instead or g ++ or something similar and it should work.

would it cause a problem if I mentioned GNU itself?

Don't believe so. That's the exact log from the error and it's pinging on the g ++ portion of your post.

Just typing g ++ without the space is throwing a 403 for me too, so just put a space in it and you should be fine. If you're still getting it, I can search the logs again.

We use a pretty strict set of mod_security rules and it's catching the g ++ in the POST stream and protecting the server in case a script on the server runs it rather than just store/display it.
