no.. their countries governmental affairs aren't our business... come on you guys... think logically(that's what you guys are good at isn't it?) would you like britain to come mess with our government? or the muslims come trys to reform our government...(hypothetical reasoning..)... I know the answer to that.. NO... therefore.. we shouldn't do that to others....
remember this phrase? do unto others as others do unto you..

That's where I think you're wrong Miaka.  The reason why it is partly our job is the following:
1) We try and air drop food to these people (good luck) because they are starved, hence they flee to another country, other country's don't want this because most of the nearby countrys need food as well.
2) Anyone heard of the sex slavery that goes on over there? Well, there are three places that the women are forced to go to to make money for their owners, the UK, the US (<-- that's the reason it involves us), and Asia (China and Japan).
3) These women carry horrid diseases, and while I'm not going to blame them for it, I'm going to say that I do NOT want it spread through out the US.
Would you want your soul mate to have some horrid disease that can affect you for life?  ...didn't think so.
4) The reason we attack their government is they are an extremeist group, the president that was overthrown is a government official in our country.  I even saw him delegating with the President.  They want to kick the Taliban out and get things back to the way they are.
5) If we don't do anything, well....put two and two together right now.  Women are some kind of "evil being".
Well those "evil beings" are the reason that society even continues.  That's why I can't stand rapists, abusers, or any person that hurts a woman, without woman...well...let's just say they'll be some desparate people, Chris would rejoice, but most everbody else would fear for their lives.

Am I right?

Do you guys ever wonder why those countries hate us?? because we INTERFERE WAY TOO MUCH.... remember how U.S. first got the ideas of freedom and independence? the educated read pamphlets and it slowly evolved our country... we should do the same to them... except we do not interfere with their governmental structures... look what happend when we did that with Cuba.... yes.. they are an extremist group for a government.. but there are others in that countries who oppose... let them win their own battles.. let them start their own revolutions.... you guys feel secure and have money or whatever.. you guys DON'T know what those people feels like, so we have NO right to go interefere in their government and how their government is run by... wow.. one bombing.. they live through that everyday... what they need is a convincing speaker to speak out against extremist groups to show the people that the reason those bombings happen because of their government not the us... so if we go assassinate their leader or does something to change their government.. that will cause the misunderstanding  to widen.... let muslim fight muslim... let a muslim speak out.... the way I look at it...I am sorry for being cynical or skeptical.. but the U.S. only helps those who benefits them... according to the Truman doctrine the u.s government is suppose to help those in desparate need.. but when the incident in Rwanda happened.. did we go help them? there was a massive genocide there!!! and we did nothing.. but now look at us.. we got bombed.. we now going to a country who is owns OIL and need our help.. we go help them.. without the oil, I totally doubt that we are going to help those people... without the benefit of befriending the muslims and fight taliban successfully.. we wouldn't help those needy muslims... the muslims have been pushed around for centuries.. that is why they are so fierce.. that is why they are so determined.. that is why some extremist come out of it...  don't you guys understand?? if we interfere... there will be more extremist than we can handle and we will be forced to nuke them... I don't want to see that...  that is my spew... disagree with it all you want... this is my opinion.....

Okay it's my turn now.
Reading through all the posts and opinions on this matter was very enlightening.
Until we walk in someone else's shoes (literally)we can't begin to understand what it is they are thinking.
To us, living in a nation that fills a soccer stadium with men so they can watch a woman getting whipped/stoned because she let her veil fall below her nose...to us, this is displicable.  To us, how can we let a nation do this to a human being.  We choose to live in a nation that does not allow this.   We choose to live in a nation that lets us worship who or what we may.  We are not bombing this nation because of how they treat their women. That society, their beliefs, that is what they grew up knowing.  They choose to live their life this way.  They have the option I am sure to leave.  The reason I know this...is because there are tons 'o muslin's living in our nation now.  Living a life with equality.
We can't expect another person, no matter how strongly you disagree with what they are teaching, to change.  The United States is not trying to teach this nation how to treat others equally.  It sickens me, yes that women are treated so poorly, not only women but children, innocent children.  Even as we speak of these acts against women in another country, we battle daily, minute to minute with domestic violence against women.  HERE, in this wonderful free country.  67% of women raped in 1999 were younger than 18 years of age. Of this 67%, 53% were raped by friends or acquaintances.   This is despicable.  This is what goes on in our country! So forgive me for saying it, but SCREW THEM.  There's some woman who probably lives next door to you who gets the shit beat out of her because she failed to take the trash out.
So on a lighter note.
that whole Thong thing...have you two (Sky or Vet)ever put one of those on anyway...That s**t goes up in the crackly area..and stay's there.  It's not comfortable.  But wouldn't mind seeing you guys in one.  :)

#### it feels good to be back!

lesham, you're wrong.

This is not something they agreed to. When the taliban took over, they placed these enormous restrictions on women. It's not the culture, it's the insane government. If the women don't cooperate, they'll be killed. Many are commiting suicide because it's so bad. How can you get out of a country where all the borders are closed and you don't have a car? You walk. If you don't have a male escort, you're killed.

It wasn't from a book.  You wanna know a PRIMARY resource?  Having someone go on national TV, explain the oppression she suffered, having her cl't cut out with f'ing rusty tools.  The pain she goes through just going to the bathroom.  Another girl...around 10 years old who had acid poured on her face.  Her face was permanently disfigured and they had to get the best plastic surgeon in to make her look somewhat normal.  Another woman who had been beaten, almost to death.  She's in the US for a few years to recover.  I know I can't feel what it feels like for them...I can only imagine, and I don't want to.  It's easy to understand how much sh't these people go through day to day.  No baths, no life, no freaking communication...at all.
THAT'S my source.
