Layering Flash Objects

Post icon  Posted 19 January 2009 - 01:18 PM

I am looking to layer to flash objects, but I am not the best with the object tag... mostly because I don't use HTML often. I use ColdFusion. Anyways I am looking for a way to set in the parameters of my two flash objects layers so that one partially overlays the other. Otherwise one gets cutoff by the other.

The top layers code is:
<cfif isdefined('session.username')><cfelse>
<div class="drsElement"
 style="left: 50%; margin-left: -410px; top: 10px; width: 175px; height: 175px;">
  <span class="drsElement">
  <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0" width="250" height="180" align="middle">
	<param name="layer" value="1">
	<param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
	<param name="movie" value="/logo.swf" />
	<param name="quality" value="high" />
	<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
	<param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" />
	<embed src="/logo.swf" quality="high" wmode="transparent" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="250" height="180" align="middle" allowscriptaccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
</object>
  </span></div>
</cfif>

The second layers code is:
	<cfswitch expression="#id#">
		<cfcase value="87,88,89,90,91,92,93,94,95,96,97,98" delimiters=",">
			<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="910" height="322">
			  <param name="layer" value="2">
			  <param name="movie" value="../Flash/slide_NoNavLoop.swf">
			  <param name="quality" value="high">
			  <param name="flashvars" value="xmlfile=<cfoutput>#id#</cfoutput>.xml">
			  <embed src="../Flash/slide_NoNavLoop.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="910" height="322" flashvars="xmlfile=<cfoutput>#id#</cfoutput>.xml"></embed>
			</object>
		</cfcase>

I guess you're wanting the logo movie to sit on top of the next one down, right? You could try setting the css z-index property to put the one that appears first in your code on top.

div#topFlash {
	 z-index:50;
}
div#nextFlash {
	z-index:40;
}

Okay I am not entirely sure how to do what you are saying. I don't know much coding other than ColdFusion. Directly in the div if I set the z-index it doesn't work. So how would I put it into the style sheet? and what would I put into the div tag?

It was only a thought, sorry. You don't have to have a stylesheet, if it was going to work it would've worked as an inline style on your div.

It doesn't seem to work either way. In the style sheet or inline.

Never mind. I just figured it out. The wmode on both had to be transparent.
