Hello Felix. What a nice name.
So you're into Ruby...that's neat. I read a Ruby tutorial (or a few) a while back, but I could never get the compiler that I downloaded to work, so I gave up on Ruby. Seems like a nice language, though. Not too difficult.
It's good to have you here...welcome to dream.in.code!

Pointers and memory allocation is what makes C and C++ beautiful. Okay, that sounds a little geeky.

red_4900, I have a question for you, if you will...
I meant to ask for a long time about the translation of your signature.
Here's what Google Translate gave me.
Could you please translate it the right way?
Thank you!
P.S. You can send me a PM with the translation, so we don't go discussing a matter not related to the post.

Ooo, Red, you sound so geeky! What are you doing on a programming forum?
Felix, did you like that book you read..."Q"? Did it have anything at all to do with the Q from Star Trek TNG?
//I didn't think so. lol

Damnit, I was going to ask that!
Welcome to DIC. Maybe I will have to go check out the rube forums. I tried building a ruby weblog once by watching a tutorial on Youtube, but could never get it to compile. Maybe DIC can help. Didn't find this place till recently but glad I did. Hope it helps you as much as it does me.

Compiler? Ruby is an interpreted language, all you have to do is to download the installer for your platform, unless you tried compile Ruby from the source (which is not too dificult either I could compile it with gcc in Ubuntu 7.10). Anyway is a pretty easy language to start programming, and there are plenty of documentation and gurus out there to help.
See you around! And thank you for the greet,
Felix

Actually no, the name 'Q'refers to a character of the novel. I dont want to spoil the argument so I will tell you that it's an historical novel placed in the 16th century in Germany, picturing the peasant uprisings and different religious movements of that time.
By the way, since I dont have Internet in my house could never try ruby on rails, just plain ruby for console applications.
See you around the forums!
Felix

Yeah...sorry about that. You'll find that a lot of what I say here is intended to be a joke.
