First programming job ever

Posted 23 January 2009 - 06:43 AM

Hello!

It s not even a year ago i started to learn C#...
Just today i could get my first programming job ever! I will realize 3 projects for a middle-sized company. I am really happy about that because i donīt even have any certifications or something like that.
I am not a student, i learn it all on my own!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all the members in this community. Since i found this site, i learned a lot!!

I donīt know what to say now, i m just quite happy :)

Probably iīm gonna tell more about it later..

THANKS

Ben

That's ridiculous. I can't even land a gas station or retail store job :P Plus all my counselors and teachers keep saying "You have to take an internship for 6 months before any company will be willing to hire you." That's just dumb that companies only base your experience on job experience and every job I've looked up says they require at least 3 years of experience in 50 different languages and technologies (50 is a bit of an exaggeration). I hope I can find a job without the need for an internship because that will save me a lot of time. Anyway, good luck with your amazing job find. :)

Thank you very much! Yeah i really was suprised as he asked me!

He only asked, do you think you can do this?

Well, you know my answer :D

I guess he likes to help young developer to start in business. He said, i will not earn so much money like
a professional developer(that didnīt suprise me..), but i ll get 3 references..

And you know, references are some kind of "career-booster" :)

Hi Hyper!

Well, at my job (project-coordination for a small company) i created a ms access database to store all employees and all contacts.. There was a IT-Specialist there who talked with my boss about that he need someone who do something similar like this for another company... I was lucky that my boss said:"we have somebody who can do that"..

I talked with him and told him in another interview that ms access sucks in security, and he agreed :)

So now i can work with whatever i want, -> C# and SQL :D Woohooo!

That s my story :)

Just luck..

Oh, you should've just lied in created an elaborate fantasy story so I could sigh and stare into space dreaming about it.

Your real story was just pure luck like you'd said before... so boring.
