@Neotifa That's not true....that's just 3 that play in the Lounge....I know of about 10 active females total, and I bet if your buddy, and the gracious webmaster, Skyhawk went back in time on the forum, there are probably a ton more.

I don't think that's true
i rarely see girls interested in IT around my environment, even in D.I.C. there are only 3 girls who are usually involved in IT discussions and who like to code yet most of there posts are in the lounge...(yet they still have some interest though). at my university there were 2 girls out of 30 students attending the Java Programming 1 course, now the semester is going to be over in 4 days, one already dropped the course last week and one seems like she will fail in the finals :S , as for the graduates, there was only 1 girl who graduate in our university with an MIS degree last year out of 20 graduate males... and not a single female graduated in a degree with CS last semester...

There are 3 girls out of 6 java 2 classes. me, the other girl in my class, and one other. There were only 2 girls at the programming contest the past fall.

Well, 5 that I know of. The girl that I helped the other day, you, Absenthe, oliveOyl, and I are the only ones I can think of....

I've helped quite a few girls in the Java forums. Most of them were either single or only a few questions and haven't come back since.

why, why, why, maybe we just feel inadequete half the time I don't know, maybe we just don't have the confidence or something silly and therefore get put off, I know for sure there were more girls than guys in my maths and stats corse at university, and our cum laude was female, whats going on here???

I don't know, I've dealt with quite a few women in the IT field. Not nearly as many as the men but I do see an increase in interest from women in the programming courses at the college here.
I know that when I started out in the tech industry most people miss took me for the secretary or customer service when I was working for a local ISP. It's all a matter of perspective I suppose.
